A Simple Tip to Overcome Stress

When you’re feeling stressed and overwhelmed with your schedule what can you do to get rid of that tension?

One trick I’ve shared with my coaching clients over the past few years is an acronym I created called S.L.O.W.

Stop … stop what you are doing.
Listen … listen to your surroundings, to your heart, to God. What is it telling you?
Obey … be obedient in what you just heard.
Walk … put it into action, do it now.

Today when I was feeling overwhelmed I asked myself what can I do to stop feeling this way? Immediately I knew I needed to S.L.O.W. down.

  1. Love this. My schedule is unusually packed again this week (three weeks in a row) and my body is not having the best response but this is something simple, practical and powerful I can apply to my overwhelming schedule! Thank you Linda and thank you for that view! You, We and I am worthy! Thank you Jesus!

Praising Jesus: I did get my blog out today so I have only missed one day of my SMART goal.

    • Wait. To. Go. Melissa!!!! You are doing such an awesome job on your goal!!!! Woo!!Hoo!!

Taking time to S.L.O.W. down it helps our bodies relax and rejuvenate. Hope you have a great week 🙂

  2. Love this! SLOW . Yes, my schedule has been busy for the past week. All fun activities, but, lots of activities. I began to feel worn out and overwhelmed and my body started feeling over tired. I tend to get “panicky” when I am over tired and overwhelmed. Thank you so much for the SLOW idea. That helped me. Love and hugs to you Linda. 🙂

    • Melissa so happy to hear that S.L.O.W. helped you too 🙂 When I get overwhelmed I feel the same way…panicky!! Yikes!!! That’s why I really have to be intentional with self-care or I will pay for it physically and emotionally.

      Thanks for being here! (((hugs)))

  3. I get stressed and feel overwhelmed when I haven’t read my Bible and talked to my Father who knows it all. When I’m teacheng and things are crazy I’ll stop and tell them I need to pray. And I’ll pray for my attitude and theirs and just take a minute (5 seconds) of silence. When I say amen there is a calm and we move on. I feel such a burden to be authentic with my students. At first they wondered if I was dying (seriously) but now they’ll ask me to pray w them. I’m blessed and that’s what I work to remember when I get stressed.

    • Debbie, you are making such a great impact on these students lives. You inspire me. Thank you for walking your talk so that others come to know our Lord.

      You are a gift! xoxo

  4. Stress is a subject that I have not always dealt very well as a whole. But I am learning to learn that as my dad would say; “if you are going to pray, don’t worry; but if you are going to worry, don’t pray”. So I try to pray and let go knowing that God is bigger that any problem. But I do love your S.L.O.W. acronym, I can not wait to use it. Oddly enough it will probably be used today. Enjoy your day everyone and God bless!!!

    • Ayesha I will remember your father’s words as well. That is so so true!!! Hope the S.L.O.W. acronym helps 🙂

Hope you have a blessed week! xoxo
