Final Days on Earth … Transitioning into Eternity

I’m soaked in tears this morning. There’s so much I want to share with you through the computer screen, and I don’t have enough words to express everything that I am feeling. A year ago I spoke the words “What better gift could I give someone than to be with them in their final days.” Little did I know how precisely the Lord listens to my ever word and would allow my deepest desire to come true.

What prompted this longing to spend time with others in their last days was because I had the opportunity to be by my mother-in-law’s bedside ten years ago as she transitioned into eternity. I sat holding her hand, singing “Jesus Loves Me” and reading Psalm 23 in her last days, and I can honestly say it was the most beautiful sacred experience of my life. She was in a hospice house, and the workers there were like real angels here on earth.

Last year, as I reflected on my experience with my dear mother-in-law, I knew it was time to give back to others walking through their last days, but I wasn’t sure exactly what that meant. After a little time visiting hospice and researching how I could make a difference, I got distracted with life and didn’t do anything with it. However, God was not going to let me forget the deep yearning within my heart.

At the end of last year, God brought not one but two beautiful people in my life that were dying from cancer. I had several months with them. We had conversations about God, heaven, cancer, life, love … and when we talked it was if we had known each other our entire lives.

Last night I held the hand of my second angel as she begins to transition into eternity. It’s hard to articulate this amazing surreal interaction. All I know is that it touched a place in my soul that I did not know existed. The unbelievable chance to connect heart to heart – soul to soul – in someone’s final days on earth is the greatest gift of my entire life. There is nothing more fulfilling. For some people it might sound a bit strange that this is beyond gratifying …. but what I know in the depths of my soul is that we have nothing to fear and eternity is the best transition that WILL EVER happen for us.

My new lifelong prayer is that everyone has the opportunity to experience Jesus in such a profound way here on earth that they will be overjoyed to go home … to heaven. Today I can honestly say my life feels complete. Each day feels like a bonus. I am living in the overflow of God’s amazing grace.

One Easy Way to Finish What You Started

We are talking accountability. How can we set those goals, follow through and achieve them? One sure way to do it is by staying accountable.

What are some different ways to stay accountable?

1 Thessalonians 5:11 tells us, therefore encourage one another and build one another up.

One really fun way to stay accountable is by speaking into another’s life by encouraging, motivating and inspiring them. And guess what it does for you? Internally it motivates you to stay on course. It works like a charm.

Who will you encourage today?  Everyone who comments will be entered to WIN a special devotional book from Lysa TerKeurst, What Happens When Women Say Yes to God. yestogoddevot

Journal with God: Write out in your journal 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “therefore encourage one another and build one another up”. List all the people in your life that might need encouragement today. May God bless them with a word of hope.

How Not To Quit {this time}

Often when I think about planning for my future, coming up with a vision for my life or even setting a goal I tend to feel apprehensive and sometimes even down right afraid.

I know that might sound funny coming from a life coach, but it’s true.

It’s exciting to think about a new beginning and starting with a clean slate, but then that nagging little voice pops up, “What if you fail? What if you don’t follow through again? What if people think…”

All those insecurities crowd my thoughts and then the next thing you know I quit before ever getting started!

Can you relate? Does any of this sound familiar?

Last year I found a way to overcome this whole debacle of goal setting, follow through and not quitting. You really won’t believe how easy it is.

simplybelieve

Yep! I simply chose to believe.

Believe what? That I will do better this time? That I will have more will power, that I will not be a quitter.

No not at all.

Instead, I told those nagging little voices of what ifs exactly what they were to me, a LIE!

I politely told the “what if” family they were no longer welcomed in my mind and they would have to take up residence elsewhere.

They were EVICTED!

Eagerly I opened up the door and welcomed the truth {God’s word} to move in and take up permanent residence in my mind.

Romans 12:2 is one of my favorite occupants. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

When I felt down in the dumps or could not see the outcome I would knock on truth’s door and simply choose to believe.

Because of my new thoughts I completed a gigantic goal, writing a book.

Sweet friend, I am inviting you today to simply choose to believe. Believe God’s beautiful truth for you. His promises for you. Believe my prayer for you.

Heavenly Father, I pray that everyone who reads this post will simply choose to believe and remain confident of this, that You who began a good work in them will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Phil 1:6) I pray for your abundance to overflow in their lives. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

What are your goals? What are your fears? Leave a comment; I would love to pray for you!
