Life Interrupted

lifeinterrupted

Don’t you hate getting interrupted?

How many times have you said, “I don’t have time for this in my life right now?” Honestly, when do we ever have time for interruptions?

A little over a year ago, I received a phone call from my dad telling me Mom had been admitted to the ICU for unexpected triple by-pass surgery. I hung up the phone immediately, packed my bags and headed to the hospital two hours away.

I was panicked!

Speeding down the highway, fear and anxiety tormented me. As you can imagine, I don’t do well with hospitals after spending almost four weeks in a coma on life-support. It’s just not my thing. But no matter if it was my thing or not it was getting ready to be my thing real quick.

It felt surreal walking into the ICU to see mom lying in bed hooked up to monitors and IVs. It was heartbreaking.

Her surgery turned out to be a success, however weeks later after getting her settled in at home, I received another phone call, “Your mother has had a heart attack. She’s in the ambulance now.”

I fell to the floor in shock and pure exhaustion.

On my way back to the ICU, I was determined not to leave her side. I stayed by her bed day and night. I’ll never forget those dark nights watching the monitors and praying, “Lord, save her.” Tears flooded my face and soul. “Lord, thank you for healing me so that I can sit by Mom’s bed just as she did for me.” It was in those midnight hours that I felt the Lord’s presence and his gentle spirit hovering over the hospital room.

Life was very disrupted during those months of hospitalization and rehabilitation, however I do not regret this divine interruption. I’m actually very grateful. It was one way I could repay my mom for all that she has sacrificed for me my entire life. I’m proud to say that yesterday; I celebrated with my mom at her retirement party! Another MIRACLE from God!

I want to encourage you no matter how overwhelmed you are with life’s interruptions; the Lord can turn them into some life’s greatest appreciations.

Leave a comment and tell me whom you are grateful for in your life today. Let’s cover them in prayer.

Beauty from Pain

porchWill you join me on my front porch today?

As I sit in my rocking chair, listening to the birds chirp, watching the sunrise with the cool gentle breeze blowing, I’m filled with awe and wonder.  God softly whispers, “be still”.

I remember sitting in this very place writing one of many journal entries on my CaringBridge page during my cancer journey. Every entry was written from a secret place deep in my soul. There’s something about facing death that strips away everything you’ve ever tried to hide behind.

Do you want to know the best part about having cancer? I know that sounds crazy, but really there was good that came from living with that dreaded “C” word.

I finally gave myself permission to genuinely be me. There was no need to perform anymore or appear to be something I was not. It naturally forced me to be me while uncovering the gift of life.

I’m #amazed at how God took my most vulnerable and frightening days and turned them into vast strength and courage.

After my third chemotherapy treatment I wrote, “God is using the cancer to change my life for Him to bring New Life in my spirit so I can share Jesus’ love with everyone I meet. Thank you Jesus for my cancer.” I had no clue how true those words would resonate in my daily life today, four years later.

My sweet friend, I’m here today to encourage you, that no matter what pain or hell you might face, it will pass and can be used for God’s greater purpose in your life.

I’m asking you to hold on, even if you have to white knuckle it, because He will create beauty from your pain.

Please share whatever is on your heart today.

Let’s pray for each other. When you leave a comment, please pray for the person that comments before you.

Much love, blessings and God’s favor for you~

A Soul Longing For More

trees

Do you have a passionate intimate relationship with God?

I wish I could answer this question with a confident and resounding Yes!

I would like to write to you proclaiming that my every breath is undeniably filled with God’s presence that saturates my entire being…. that my life is completely satisfied longing for nothing more when it comes to a relationship with our Creator.

However, I refuse to be a fake, so I choose to share my truth with you.

Many days my relationship with God can be the absolute opposite from satisfied!

I find myself struggling desperately to make it through and wonder why life has to be so hard.  I question why everyone else around me seems to have it all together with this “Christian thing”.

Have you ever found yourself asking, “When is God’s word going to actually come alive in my life?”  I know I have.

When I find my soul anxiously searching, longing for more, the only thing I know to do is fight!  I get ticked off and then I am determined to fight for what is true.  Undeniably the best weapons to fight with are….

READING, MEDIATING, PRAYING and SPEAKING the Word of God!

Proverbs 3:5 tells us to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

It’s ok when we experience times of uncertainty and feel a sense of longing.  We can boldly and confidently move past what we think to be “true” by simply trusting His promises in this one simple verse.

Is your soul longing for more?  How can you start to fill this desire?

I love hearing from you!  Click the comment link below.

Got Confidence?

foxypar4

How confident are you that you are living the life you were created for?

I want to share something that is actually pretty embarrassing to admit.  When I became a Christian Life Coach 3 years ago, I was stuffed full of insecurity, doubt and fear.  I questioned myself daily for months and months deliberating if I was really “good enough” to be a Christian Life Coach.  I would cry myself to sleep (sometimes even in the middle of the day) while struggling to put one foot in front of the other to build my coaching business.  I wasted many hours circling uncertainty in my mind.

As I think over the lack of confidence I struggle with at different times in my life, I’m reminded of Isaiah 55:10-11

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

This scripture shows us where we can find our confidence.  When we read and speak scripture over our lives it will accomplish God’s purpose for us always because he promises it will not return to him void.

I’ve seen this truth come alive in my personal life time and time again, as well as with my coaching clients.

I want to encourage you again to start praying God’s word immediately.  Click the comment link below and let me know if you’ve done this before or if you’re ready to start. I love hearing from all my readers!

How To Connect With God

disconnected

Do you ever find yourself so distant from God you don’t even know where or how to connect with him?

Sometimes I feel it is nearly impossible to get even a tiny glimpse of his presence.  When that happens I find it is real easy to get off track quickly.  I end up sleeping in a little later the next day and skipping my daily quiet time.  Not before long I can look back and see it’s been days since I’ve encountered God and I find myself in a bit of a funk!

There are so many ways to develop our relationship with God, however we must be intentional and possibly even strategic about it.

Matthew 18:20 says, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

One powerful way to build your relationship with God is by connecting with other believers.  Going to church and bible study is wonderful, however to really dig deeper in your relationship with God, I recommend finding one or two other people in your life to pray with.

If you’re like me, I thought at one time, there is no way I’m going to pray out loud.  I was afraid I was not eloquent or spiritual enough to rattle off a prayer in front someone else.  However, I found out this is where real intimacy with God is created.  The Holy Spirit is most powerful in our vulnerabilities.  This is where our authentic relationship with God reveals to us that it’s not about “doing” or “saying” but simply just being in his presence.

Who can you pray with today?  I want to encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and see how God will reveal himself to you with a deeper connection.  I would love to hear from you!

Everyone who comments today will be entered to WIN Lysa TerKeurst book What Happens When Women Say Yes to God.  Join me and over 18,000 other women in our next Online Bible Study as we say Yes to God together!  Winner will be announced on next Tuesday’s Inspirational Coaching Minute post.
