What to do for Quiet Time

JesusCallingPic Do you ever struggle with what to do in your quiet time or where to begin reading the bible? Reading the Jesus Calling Devotional is one of my favorite places to connect with God. I often encourage my clients to begin their quiet time with reading the Jesus Calling devotional. It takes just a few minutes. At the bottom of each devotion there are scripture verses to look up. You can simply read the verse or you can read the chapter. Spending time with God requires two things: our desire and consistency. As a Christian Life Coach I want to challenge you to start today and step into a deeper relationship with Jesus immediately. Leave a comment below and let me know how you like to connect with God and be entered to win a copy of Jesus Calling by Sarah Young.

  1. I have 3 different devotionals I have been reading privately in the morning… And the girls (12/7/5) read a couple in the evening as well. We pray and do our gratitude and blessing journal as well.

  2. I really enjoy reading devotionals. One thing I try to do each morning, to connect with God, is to open the front door and say out loud, “Thank you, Lord, for this glorious day.” Then, I go to the back door and do the same thing. Doing that always reminds me of His unfailing mercies and His blessings. 🙂

  3. I purchased a copy of Jesus Calling in September… I wasn’t very consistent at first and struggling to read it in the mornings before work. So I threw it in my purse, and I’ve given myself grace to know that as long as I am connecting at some point with Him that He is still pleased… He doesn’t care about the time of day, but about the quality. So some days I can have more quality time at home during the nights or even during my lunch at work… Although I already own a copy, I would love to share this and bless someone with a copy so they can experience daily communication too.

  4. I use Jesus Calling also – my counselor recommended it and I finally got it at this year’s Women of Faith conference – I LOVE IT! So often it is speaking RIGHT to what I NEED TO HEAR that morning! I’d love another copy to give to a friend!

  5. I definately have a ‘quiet time’ , it is before I get up and start a busy day. Sitting in bed reading my Bible alongside a daily devotional ‘Inspiring Women- Every day’ CWR. I have a cup of tea by my side and the room is quiet. It is my good start to the day…rarely missed .. Other times are fitted into the fabric of the day, as I read from K-Love and other on- line scripture encouragements. The Word can be absorbed through worship and praise songs..mainly played in the car as I travel about.. ( not so quiet then!)

  6. Hi Linda! I am way behind on checking emails…like weeks! But God has blessed me with many wonderful things this Autumn season…back to school and blessed to be educating my own medically fragile grandson as a student now in first grade; Special Olympics, leading 52 athletes assisted by 20 coaches through weeks of practicing and to the State Junior Duckpin Tournament last weekend! Chairing two large fundraising events which benefitted two worthy community groups and participating in a few campaigns for wonderful Christian local candidates, who might I add were elected! Yay! I am not trying to boast or brag, but to praise Jesus for the Divine opportunities He placed before me, filled with His Love, Hope and Joy…and reading my Jesus Calling devotional and praying His Word from my Jesus Calling Devotional Bible each morning during my quiet time is one of the many ways He answers me after my prayer time and journaling. I thank God and you for this gift. I won the devotional in your giveaway quite some time ago (shortly before Jesus called two of my students home to Him) and have saved your note card with your kind words and your email telling me I was the winner…the devotional made such an impact that shortly after, I went to the book store to buy one for each of my daughters and my mom. To my wonder and joy, the larger lavender covered version with the Scripture verses written out was on sale 50% off. God is good! They read it almost daily. I also saw a sale on the devotional Bible…anyway, today’s reading and Scripture verses are the answer to those who have questioned my endless energy some days…”As your day, so shall your strength be.” I must add that I seek rest and comfort in Jesus as every opportunity presents itself, so to restore and replenish my soul through Him, with Him and in Him that I may serve for Him! Thank you! I hope that whoever receives these blessed giveaway devotionals shares in His Love, Peace and Joy!
One last thought, favorite books…recently “The Best Yes” and also “The Shack”…other favorite devotionals “God Calling” by A J Russell and the P31 “Encouragement Today”. Sorry so long, just had to tell it all…God bless!

  7. Linda, I love reading a devotional and being in God’s word prepares me for the day. The days I rush ahead of God He is waiting for me when I finally look up. Blessings. DIANA

  8. Thanks Linda, God has been speaking to me about this lately and you have hit the nail on the head for me, consistency, as with many things I start am excited and then fall off. I like to spend the first few minutes I wake up with Jesus while I am laying in bed. There is something comforting about snuggling with my Savior.

  9. I have been reading Jesus calling devotional for a couple of years now! It has encouraged me to live a closer walk with Jesus and to live a life of freedom, i love the book, i highley recommed the book!!
