I Was So Nervous!

When have you been nervous lately? What are you doing to stretch yourself to grow and learn?

If we stay in our comfort zone and don’t allow ourselves to get antsy or uncomfortable at times we will remain stuck in our lives and not grow.

Because of putting myself “out there” in a recent public speaking class, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to coach you in this area.

Let me know where you are stretching yourself so that you can grow? Or what is that one thing you need to do to get outside your comfort zone? As your coach I want to challenge you to dig deep and explore what it will be like to put yourself out there. Imagine how awesome you will feel after facing your fears and investing in yourself!

Journal with God: Write a note to God in your journal. Tell Him what you are most afraid of when you start to imagine yourself stepping outside your comfort zone. Ask Him to show you where you might need to stretch yourself so that you can grow into all He has created you to be.

  1. I am nervous because I am take a state license test this Friday at 1:30. I know I have grown over the past few years into my new career. But if I do not pass it sets me back and will make me feel terrible towards all my supportive friends and family. When I pass, it will change a great deal in my life. Thanks for the topic todat. It really touched me.

    • Debbie, I love how you said “WHEN I PASS” this is exactly where I want to encourage you to park you brain. You’ve got this. When I focus on my confidence it takes me so much further than dwelling on my fears of the “what ifs”. Praying for you sister.

  2. I enjoyed the webcast. 🙂 I posted on your Facebook page. Yes, I definitely can relate to needing to move out of my comfort zone. I am working on that, with lots of prayers. 🙂

    • Thanks for hanging out with us on the webcast. It was so much fun! I’m thrilled to see how you’ve been moving out of your comfort zone and getting connected to other communities. Wait. To. Go. Melissa!!!!

  3. I was doing a lot of volunteer work which I really enjoyed. Then I had 7 surgeries within 3 1/2 years. I lost my energy and will. I found out the iron in m blood was what was causing me to be tired. Since then I’ve gained about 60 lbs. I haven’t drove going on 5 years. I just don’t want to get out anymore. I hurt all the time. I have the MRSA virus which causes me to get infections from the surgeries that won’t heal. I know I need to rise above all this. I could have died so many times in the last 13 years but God didn’t let me because he has a purpose for me. I need to get out there and live again. Thank you for all your help. Look forward to this study. I would love to get the participation book.

    • Sharon I’m so glad you are joining us for the study. You are exactly right that God has a plan and a purpose for your life. I want to encourage you to focus on your strengths. 4. I have been feeling for some time now that the experiences of my past and how my life has unfolded could be an encouragement to someone who is hurting in the same areas. But – because my past includes times of rejection, I realize I am less inclined to step out of my boat. I have never had the opportunity to further my education to learn skills to communicate in a better way. I don’t really know where to begin. I’m praying a lot lately for divine guidance and opportunities. God has opened many windows in answer to my prayer. (Including your blog Linda) but still I hesitate because of my lack of confidence in my ability. your podcast today encourages and challenges me. Thank you for your desire and dedication to help others. Donna

    • Thank you Donna for sharing your heart with me. Just by the words you wrote I can tell you are already equipped to share your story with others. I want to encourage you not to get bogged down with the details of exactly how it will all play out. Begin today, right now sharing God’s faithfulness in your life. Once we step out of the boat in the small things God will open up doors for bigger things. I’m so excited for you!!

  5. Your video could not have come at a more perfect time. I have been called out of my comfort zone A LOT this past month. I have completely switched careers, finally giving up the comfort of my own little boat and stepping out into the water of something much bigger. I am now teaching ELL students from Burma and India. I actually get up in front of a class of teenagers and teach 6 periods a day!! I have always known I had a heart for missions but I had no idea that my mission field would be right here in our very own high school!! I am not fluent in these languages so I have had to step up my speaking skills (along with confidence), step past my fears and take that step of faith! Yes nervous has definitely been a feeling that I can relate to these days! Now I am going to have my end of the year evaluation shortly and boy howdy, nervousness shows up.

    • Wow Wow Wow Amber! What an inspiration you are! I love hearing how God provided your mission field right where you were. It’s funny how we have one agenda in mind and God has another. I’m encouraging you to lean into that confidence girl. Your end of year evaluation will be a success!! I have no doubt. Thank you for sharing with me. xoxox
