Be Flexible in Your Schedule

Today’s coaching tip is on being flexible!

What do you do when something completely messes up your routine after setting your goal and coming up with a specific plan? For me this week it was jury duty that wrecked my schedule.

I had a choice to make, either wait until the evening to do my run or get up extra early and run in the dark. I know myself all to well, which meant I had to get my exercise in the wee morning hours or more than likely I’d skip out on it at night.

When life gets in the way it can be an easy excuse not to follow through in our goals.

Are you going to give into excuses or be flexible?

  1. I posted on your Facebook page, but, will post here, too. I have had to be flexible with food choices this week, due to being sick with another, yes, another sinus infection. But, I did make good choices, even when I had no appetite. Glad to be feeling almost all better and getting back on the right path of eating and walking. 🙂 Thank you for your inspiration, Linda.

    • Melissa getting back up is the key component to accomplishing our goals! Because no matter what we are going to have interruptions to our plans. So look at you go girl!!! Go Melissa!!!! I’m happy to hear you are feeling a better and getting back on track. 🙂

  2. While on this journey to lose weight, I try to stock my pantry with snacks that my daughter loves but that I am not fond of, that way I can stay on track with my healthy eating and she can still had her treats!!!

    • Ayesha very smart! Thinking ahead of what might be a stumbling block. You are planning and setting yourself up for success my friend. I love it!!

  3. Oh Linda this post was in God’s perfect timing! My Mom is visiting and staying with me for a long weekend and I have committed to posting every Tuesday and Saturday so I knew that if I wanted to maintain that goal I had to start to write Saturday’s blog post early, before she arrived but of course I didn’t really feel like doing it but I did and then you spoke to us about being flexible! I just love how our God works! I am sharing your story with her today. It has taken her years to come to Jesus but she is there now (Praise the Lord) and I have been waiting to share many things with her but one of the biggest is your story! Love you Linda!
I am WORTHY! Thank You Jesus! We are WORTHY!

    • Oh Melissa!!!! You just made my day. I pray your mom sees the hope of Jesus in a new way. Our God is amazing how he orchastrates timing and every little detail in our lives.

I’m so proud of you too for pushing through and not procrastinating with your blog post!!!! You go girl!!! I hope you have a wonderful visit with your mom. Sending both of you ((hugs)) & prayers 🙂

  4. Life getting in the way is always a struggle when it comes to trying to fit training to walk a half marathon. And with the weekends being the time for the long walks, as we get closer to race day it seems harder and harder to squeeze in 2-3 hours of training. Thankfully I have a partner that is training with me. We get in touch with each other earlier in the week to determine when both of us can fit the training into our weekend plans. We’ve had to walk on Friday nights (and finish when it was already dark) and we’ve walked on Sunday afternoons. I’m proud that we are able to fit this into our busy schedules and having a training partner holds each of us accountable.

    • Dawn its so awesome that you have a training partner! I actually started did my long run on Friday this week and I’m going to do it this week as well. I actually liked getting it out of the way for the weekend. 🙂

Having a partner for accountability is very important when working on a goal. Even though I don’t have one specific person I’m training with, I have you guys for accountability. I’ve already said to myself if I didn’t put this goal out there on my blog I would probably quit. lol!!! (really its true) (((hugs))) my friend

  5. Many times things do not happen as planned therefore we must be flexible and be willing to make changes and life will be a lot easier.
