War Room

Have you seen War Room? Confession: I went twice this weekend!

This movie literally has changed my life. If you have not seen the movie, please go see it.

Will you take the challenge with me to step up and be more disciplined in your prayer life? I know when I sincerely meet with God, I leave a changed woman every single time. I’m not saying it will be easy, but I promise it is worth it.

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:11

While discipline is so important for us to achieve our goals, it is even more important in our time with God. Our prayer lives must be top priority.

Let me know how disciplined you are in your prayer life or do you need to step it up with me? How might that impact the goals you are trying to achieve? Everyone who comments will be entered to WIN The Mended Heart by Suzanne Eller.

  1. Oh Linda did I need that today! I too am considered a prayer warrior but have my seasons where I fall short and just yesterday I let a busy and fun morning run away with me and the one thing I “cut” from my morning time with Jesus was my prayer time. About the same time we started our SMART Goals together the Lord moved in me to dramatically change my prayer life and add in a time of writing out prayers using a Beth Moore PRAISE method. It has added a significant amount of time to my already full morning with Jesus and when push came to shove and my Best Friend and her boys were coming over to swim I chose to not have that prayer time! This morning was another unusual morning and again I have not had that prayer time! I have had some but not what the Lord has called me too! I am hopeful that I will be able to see War Room with my Mom when she has a quick visit this weekend. Going into a movie theater is very difficult for us since we lost my brother three years ago. I have only been able to go to a movie if it is with my BF and her boys, surrounded in love and my Mom has not been able to step in a theater at all but I know we are not supposed to wait to see this movie! I so appreciate your prayers for this! Off to have my deep prayer time with Jesus now!

    • Father God I pray as Melissa and her mom enter the theater they are wrapped in your presence and peace. May this be a time of healing from the lose of her beloved brother. I’m expectant of a miracle in their lives as they watch this film.

You are an amazing woman of God Melissa. Your strength to keep pressing on inspires me. Love you sweet friend.

  2. It’s funny you have brought this subject up. I was asked to pray at my 12 step class and I seem to be rather shy on praying in front of others. I believe the reason is because I don’t want to be wrong or make mistakes. I have been working on understanding it’s ok to make mistakes, however praying is never wrong. I am just talking to God. I have to remember that no matter what I say to God is not a wring just felt from my heart. Thanks again Linda, I am going to continue to work on praying more by myself and in a group.
    Deanna

    • Deanna I love God’s perfect timing. I listened to something from Joyce Meyer this morning about the power of a simple prayer. Just simply saying Jesus I need you is enough. Love that you are growing in this area and being obedient to God.

      (((hugs))) my friend

  3. I pray often though somewhat unfocused. I do tend to remember to thank God in prayers and for little and big things.. Particularly wisdom. I pray for others though not in as disciplined a way as I would like… Structure and regularity may be needed in my prayer life

    • I find now that I’m planning a specific non-negotionable time its much easier to stay focused. I love that you have a grateful heart in big and small things. Acknowledging God and keeping Him as our focus no matter what is mighty powerful.

Much love to you friend ((hugs))

  4. I love to pray. I do not have a certain time to pray each day. I speak with God all day and night. I do start the morning by going to the front door and then, the back door and thanking God for His blessings. 🙂
I also posted on your youtube video. 🙂 I want to see War Room asap. 🙂
    Hugs!

    • I woke up this morning and realized that I do have one certain time that I pray. 🙂 Every morning, before I open my eyes, I love to say Good Morning Lord and Thank You for Your Blessings and then, I ask Him to put a hedge of protection around our family and friends. Also, I specifically name people in the prayer. 🙂

  5. Thank you so much, Linda!!!! While watching your video it realized the answer to my last response about how I struggle to surrender to God. If I take the time to truly and sincerly communicate with God surrendering to Him will not be as hard because we will have a strong relationship. If you think about it, it not hard to place faith in someone you have a strong relationship with. I really needed this word. Thanks again.

    Ayesha

    • Ayesha what great awareness! It’s convicting…”it’s not hard to place faith in someone you have a strong relationship with.” Beautiful my friend. xoxo

  6. I have a problem with being disciplined in reading and praying. When I read I lose my place so many times that’s it’s unreal how many times I start and stop. Being disciplined and obedient has always been a desire of my heart. I have some of the best books to read but haven’t finished one yet. I would love to be discipline in the areas of a clean house, daily chores. I’ve sought a cure for this. If I do find something I like to do I have an overly compulsive disorder. I need balance in my life. Thanks for all the help you give to women on subjects that matter.

    • Hi Sharon, I want to encourage you to pick one small area of your life to be disciplined in…for example: keeping a clean closet and just focus on that area. Once you start having success in one area it often turns into a snowball effect and you’ll start being disciplined in other areas. 🙂

      Thanks for being here. xoxox

  7. War Room was powerful and wonderful! I don’t have a walk-in closet to turn into a War Room, but I am determined to find a quiet corner of the house and get to my knees! Thank you, Linda. I appreciate your heart for God.
    ~Jennifer

    • Jennifer, I don’t have a closet … I feel too closterphobic 🙂 I get up in the really early hours before anyone is awake and have a special place in my living room. I also like to walk and pray throughout my house.

Thank you for hanging out here on my blog. xoxox

  8. I am struggling with my goal not so much the goal as did I choose the right goal when I first saw your post the first thing that came to mind was my sweet addiction I have been battling this for a long time and have give it to God and taken it back and given it to God and taken it back and given it to God well u get the picture soooo when I decided to sign up for this challenge I thought not again I’m just going to go w a different goal which is still my ultimate goal and I believe my calling to become a Christian life coach and encourager but this thought about the sweet addiction keeps resounding in my head especially every time I read your blog … This weekend I helped with our college and careers retreat and the devotion I spoke on was what’s holding you back from a closer relationship with the Lord something in your past that someone did to you something you have done something you struggle with etc and I gave them a rock and told them whatever that thing is to take that rock as a symbol and throw it in the lake and let go and let God have it and I threw my sweet addiction away but I know I will need a lot of surrender and prayer to leave it there ! I don’t want it to hinder me following Gods will for my life I also gave them another rock to keep and for that rock I ask them to think about what their gift is from the Lord that they can use to shine His light to a lost and hurting world and I truly believe that my rock is to be an encourager and I want to follow His will and use my gift of encouragement to share Jesus and help others find their rock in Jesus !

    • Kelly I just love you sweet sister!!!! Thank you for being real and comfortable enough to share here. In the past I really struggled with food issues as well. I feel like I can relate to everything you are saying here. The Lord currently has brought awareness to me with another struggle in my life that I’m having to earnestly seek him in deep prayer each morning. While at first I was like how can I do this, I actually look forward to surrendering to him in the mornings….well….even though I end up in tears every morning 🙂 I love how the Holy Spirit continues to prompt you even though you started out with a different goal.

There’s no rule that you have to stick with the same goal. I want to love on you and support you during this time. I believe in you. The Lord is faithful and will provide a way for you through this. I know is 100%. Thank you again for your heart and willingness to share. xoxoxo

      • Thank you for your support ! I came across this quote as I was going through the book what happens when women walk in faith by Lysa Terkheurst
Trust God with the journey as you take each step.
You take care of the possible and let Him take care of the impossible
        And this scripture
Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
I have to believe all things are possible through Him !

  9. Linda I love praying. Lately I have been so busy with my Online Bible Studies ( a new experience for me) that prayer time has faded into just a few minutes of rushed requests and praise to God at the beginning of the day.
Thank you for reminding me that my prayer life is more than anything I do. I am planning to step up my prayer life so that I can be more successful in reaching my goal and obeying God.

  10. I saw the movie yesterday… And all I could say was WOW. Thank you Jesus for such a profound movie. We need to see films that empower people to stand for the Lord in this day and age. This movie spoke volumes to me in my personal life. I feel like I need to examine the “temperature” of my prayer life. After seeing this movie I wanted to physically go home at clean out my own “war room”. One of the issue I have with prayer that was I not been good at clearing out distractions prior to praying. I always seem to end up with something in the way of me focusing on God. I completely see how you could find yourself going to see this movie more that once. I almost wish I have a pen and a piece of paper at some parts of the movies to take notes. Some many things I wish I had learned earlier in my life about surrendering, and seeking God first. But I will be sure not to let my daughter fail!! Thank you Jesus.
