My Invitation To You

invite

As another year comes to an end I like to spend a little time intentionally reflecting on the past year. It’s good medicine for the soul.

It creates gratitude.

It’s a gift I like to give myself.

Either I’ll carve out a day to get away to a quiet place or I’ll take a little time each morning for a few days to reflect.

Just a few months ago for my 40th birthday I connected with a group of girlfriends for a nice dinner but instead of having any old conversation we focused our time together on thoughtful questions to ponder.

It was a beautiful purposeful evening filled with intention I treasure.

As your Christian Life Coach I want to encourage you to schedule a time of reflection, maybe even today?

When reflecting, I like to take out my journal and write down all the sacred simple moments I encountered throughout the year.

Now I know how easy it is for our minds to go to that place of ugh!!!! I wish I would of, should of, or could of this year, but that’s not what this is about. This is a time to give yourself a {hug & a bit of love}.

Okay sweet friend?

So today I invite you to spend some time of reflection with me in the comments below. I’ll leave the first comment.

From my heart to yours, thank you for being a part of my blog community. You are a gift to me!

3 Questions to Ask When Making a Decision

question

Now that I have a teenage daughter I spend a lot of time making decisions … tuff parenting decisions.

I pray for wisdom and discernment just about hourly these days. Because I’m a bit of a control freak at times, it’s hard for me to release my tight grip from my “take charge know it all attitude”. And then before I know it I’ve made a bad decision based on my controlling ways that usually end up backfiring on me.

Have you ever had that happen?

Just yesterday when I was working with a client I had an epiphany. I asked her three questions that guided her into making a confident and firm decision.

After our meeting I thought wow I need to answer these questions for myself because I was feeling slightly stressed about yet another parenting decision. So I took out a piece of paper and wrote down the following 3 questions:

• Does your decision align with God’s word?
• Do you have confusion about your decision?
• Do you have peace about your decision?

Answering those questions made it clear to me that I did not need to move forward at this time in making a decision. Instead I needed to slow down and continue to seek God for guidance.

Often we rush into making decisions. We feel pressure to hurry up and keep moving. Let’s face it we live in a fast paced world and instant gratification has almost become a necessity.

Today I want to encourage you to slow down and ask yourself these 3 questions before making your next decision. It really works great for any decision you are making.

I would love to hear from you. What decisions are you wrestling with. Leave comment below.

A Confident Heart Giveaway

Do you ever struggle with confidence, insecurity or self-doubt?

There are times I feel completely confident in who God says I am. But then there are days when I feel extremely insecure. I’ll admit I’m a bit jealous of you if you do not struggle in this area from time to time.

In Renee’s book A Confident Heart you will learn how to break free from these feelings with God’s truth. Renee teaches us how to fail forward even when life sets us back. And how to trust the certainty of God’s promises when we are uncertain of our circumstances and emotions.

You will love this book and Renee’s heart! It’s a must read.

Blessed by Lysa TerKeurst & Renee Swope

This week I had the privilege of spending a little time talking with Lysa TerKeurst and Renee Swope.  I walked away with a wealth of perspective on leadership in ministry!  I knew right away I wanted to share with you some of the great insights I gained from talking with these two remarkable leaders from Proverbs 31 Ministries.

I asked Lysa and Renee what was one of the most valuable lessons they had learned from leadership?

Renee shared there are three seasons in her life.  NO. GO. SLOW.  This is so true.  For example, at different times in our life God will specifically tell us NO even when we “think” it should be yes.  Or often when we are afraid to take that next step and would rather stay in our comfort zone, that’s when He comes through loud and clear and tells us to GO.  Other times we can be running so fast that we might lose sight of where God really wants us and that’s when He whispers, it’s time to SLOW down.  Listening to Renee talk about the different seasons in her ministry gave me sense of relief and opened my eyes to see which season I’m in right now.  Renee and Lysa both shared unique stories about the different seasons throughout their ministry.  As I was listening, I realized it takes all three seasons to grow a ministry because ultimately God is the One in control and at work anyway.

Lysa shared that she often approaches God with the question, “What is my assignment for today Lord?”  I absolutely love this question because it challenges us to look at today only.  As a Christian Life Coach, I’m frequently encouraging my clients to focus on one day at a time.  It is written in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Lysa turned the statement of one day at a time into a coaching question in her dialog with the Lord.  As I left our conversation, I could hardly wait for the next morning to start my day journaling with this powerful question, “What is my assignment for today Lord?”  After processing where God was leading me for the day, I realized how much unneeded pressure lifted from my spirit.  I was able to focus and trust that I was exactly where I needed to be that day to accomplish the ministry work He has called me to.  This is now one of my favorite ways to start my day, and an excellent tool to share with others.

I want to wrap up this post by saying THANK YOU to Proverbs 31 Ministries leaders Lysa TerKeurst and Renee Swope for consistently providing encouragement, confidence and guidance to women all over the world who are building a personal relationship with Christ.  If you have not visited the Proverbs 31 Ministries website, I highly recommend you to check it out and sign up to receive their daily devotionals.  You will be blessed and inspired every single day!

Thank you to all my readers for allowing me the opportunity to share life with you!  As always, I would love to hear from you.  Please leave a comment below.
