3 Questions to Ask When Making a Decision

question

Now that I have a teenage daughter I spend a lot of time making decisions … tuff parenting decisions.

I pray for wisdom and discernment just about hourly these days. Because I’m a bit of a control freak at times, it’s hard for me to release my tight grip from my “take charge know it all attitude”. And then before I know it I’ve made a bad decision based on my controlling ways that usually end up backfiring on me.

Have you ever had that happen?

Just yesterday when I was working with a client I had an epiphany. I asked her three questions that guided her into making a confident and firm decision.

After our meeting I thought wow I need to answer these questions for myself because I was feeling slightly stressed about yet another parenting decision. So I took out a piece of paper and wrote down the following 3 questions:

• Does your decision align with God’s word?
• Do you have confusion about your decision?
• Do you have peace about your decision?

Answering those questions made it clear to me that I did not need to move forward at this time in making a decision. Instead I needed to slow down and continue to seek God for guidance.

Often we rush into making decisions. We feel pressure to hurry up and keep moving. Let’s face it we live in a fast paced world and instant gratification has almost become a necessity.

Today I want to encourage you to slow down and ask yourself these 3 questions before making your next decision. It really works great for any decision you are making.

I would love to hear from you. What decisions are you wrestling with. Leave comment below.

How To Stop Procrastinating

Do you ever feel guilty for repeating the same bad habits?

Have you ever said, I’m never doing that again, but find yourself doing it anyway?

Are you sick and tired of making promises you cannot keep? {especially to yourself}

Yes, yes and yes!

Sometimes I get so frustrated because I keep making the same stupid mistakes over and over.

“I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.” Romans 7:15 NLT

Can you relate?

Just last weekend I found myself being that nagging mom that I so desperately do not want to be! Somehow it just slipped right out of me. My daughter is almost 14 years old and well; you get the picture, enough said.

I really don’t want to keep using the excuse of “raging hormones” for me to lose my temper with my daughter and miss divine opportunities to instill meaningful values in her life.

So while I took some time to cool off after another “blow up” I reflected on how I’ve successfully implemented changes in the past and I was quite surprised with what came to mind!

Stop procrastinating and DECIDE to make a change now.

Yep, it’s really that simple!

Any time we make up our mind and DECIDE to make a change we will have success. It might not always turn out exactly how we planned, but we will begin to move forward and transformation will happen. I promise you!

For example, four years ago when I ran my very first half marathon it came down to making a decision or when I felt God calling me to a 40-day juice fast I made the decision to make the commitment.

So what do you need to decide on today?

How will making this decision impact your life one month, six months or even one year from now?

Leave a comment with your decision below. It’s time to make a change now.
