Is Your Life Crazy?

 3lion

It started almost exactly 12 months ago.

Out of nowhere a shocker I was in no way, shape or form prepared to hear.

Someone very close to me was hurting so deeply that it was too much for me to grasp.

Instead of offering compassion I got angry … very angry!

Fear and anxiety overtook me.

My mind raced with horrific thoughts. And the more I thought about this desperate situation the angrier I became.

I had no peace, no hope, just sheer panic.

Has this ever happened to you?

Sometimes when a loved one is in so much emotional pain it is too hard to sit with and just be present with them.

It’s uncomfortable.

It’s vulnerable.

It’s scary.

Instead of offering a hug or a listening ear we try to fix them or we might even push them away. It’s not right, but its just they way it happens because it is too painful for us to see them hurting.

The enemy will use anything to cause division, especially with those we love so much.

I’m writing this today to remind you and me that we must live on guard, ready for the next attack.

I’m not saying to live in fear of the unknown anxiously awaiting the next shoe to drop.

But I am saying we must put on our armor every single day. Ephesians 6:10-18

What does that look like for you?

Prayer … Reading the bible … Worship … Journaling … Listening to a sermon … Talking with a friend … Having a mentor or a life coach to keep you accountable?

How prepared are you for the next assault from the enemy?

What are you doing consistently so that you maintain a peaceful life so that when things go crazy you don’t?

I wish I could tell you that a year later everything is perfect and all better for my dear loved one, but that is not the case. However, I can say that through our greatest trials and deepest heartaches the Lord continues to provide.

Our God is good.

He is faithful.

And His mercies are new every single morning. Lam 3:22-23

Let’s Remove the Stigma

Will you join me in removing the stigma of mental illness?

Transformation Church and Rick & Kay Warren are passionate about the body of Christ coming together and removing the stigma society has placed on mental illness. Six years ago when I had cancer I received an outpouring of unconditional love and support even from strangers while I was sick, but I dare to say if I was struggling from mental illness I would receive the same support.

Kay Warren delivered a powerful message at Transformation Church last Sunday. Watch here. “Research shows 1 in 5 children and 1 in 5 adults in America will be affected by mental illness in a given year. Although millions of people are impacted by mental illness, people often feel isolated, alone, and unsure of where to turn for help and hope.” Saddleback Church will be having a special event The Gathering on Mental Health & The Church on October 7–9, 2015. Let Go

fampic

I can rest comfortably in your presence when I’m alone with you.

Soaking up the warmth of the sun, feeling the gentle breeze on my skin and enjoying the melody of the birds sitting on my porch is heavenly.

It’s easier to breathe, slow down and relax.

In this very moment I can believe that everything is going to be okay even in the midst of our suffering world.

The second I walk away from this rejuvenating sanctuary I forget you and I step into fear. Immediately I start trying to control my life…. and those I love.

Help me Lord to let go.

Help me to release my grip and trust you.

Trust your love.

Many times I beat myself up because I cannot live out my faith perfectly.

Fill me with your grace.

Give me strength to extend grace to myself for all my imperfections.

Just for today I will take time to open up my hands to you and let go.

When I start to feel anxious I will look at my hands and open them up to you. I will let go.

Do you need to let go of something? Leave me a comment below. I’d love to pray for you today.
