One Healthy Habit that Changed My Life

As a 42-year-old woman I can honestly say I’ve spent at least half of my life or more attempting to find ways to be “healthy”. Like most people I start something new and think I’m going to stick with it this time and then fall off the wagon at some point and find myself at square one all over again.

On top of all the try again stop again yo-yoing; I end up feeling bad about myself while negative self-talk and defeating thoughts begin to weigh me down.

Can you relate?

But something dawned on my recently after a spiritual retreat I hosted. For the last twenty plus years I’ve practiced one healthy habit through ever trial, heartache, triumph and victory that has consistently brought me to better health. And with this practice I can honestly say I would not be the person I am today without it. It’s something that I don’t do every single day of my life, but it is something I reach for in times of deep struggle, frustration, anxiety and in times of reflection, hope, prayer, planning and dreaming.

The one healthy habit that continues to change my life and has for years is journaling.

There is no specific way to journal, it’s simply picking up a pen and putting it to paper. It can be one word or hundreds of words. You simply let your heart, mind and emotions lead you. I want to encourage you that even if you’re someone who does not like to write, you must give it a try!

I promise this is one new healthy habit that will propel you forward beyond anything you can imagine. Grab a journal and pen today!

I would love to hear from you. Leave me a comment and let me know one of your healthy habits.

How Not To Quit {this time}

Often when I think about planning for my future, coming up with a vision for my life or even setting a goal I tend to feel apprehensive and sometimes even down right afraid.

I know that might sound funny coming from a life coach, but it’s true.

It’s exciting to think about a new beginning and starting with a clean slate, but then that nagging little voice pops up, “What if you fail? What if you don’t follow through again? What if people think…”

All those insecurities crowd my thoughts and then the next thing you know I quit before ever getting started!

Can you relate? Does any of this sound familiar?

Last year I found a way to overcome this whole debacle of goal setting, follow through and not quitting. You really won’t believe how easy it is.

simplybelieve

Yep! I simply chose to believe.

Believe what? That I will do better this time? That I will have more will power, that I will not be a quitter.

No not at all.

Instead, I told those nagging little voices of what ifs exactly what they were to me, a LIE!

I politely told the “what if” family they were no longer welcomed in my mind and they would have to take up residence elsewhere.

They were EVICTED!

Eagerly I opened up the door and welcomed the truth {God’s word} to move in and take up permanent residence in my mind.

Romans 12:2 is one of my favorite occupants. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

When I felt down in the dumps or could not see the outcome I would knock on truth’s door and simply choose to believe.

Because of my new thoughts I completed a gigantic goal, writing a book.

Sweet friend, I am inviting you today to simply choose to believe. Believe God’s beautiful truth for you. His promises for you. Believe my prayer for you.

Heavenly Father, I pray that everyone who reads this post will simply choose to believe and remain confident of this, that You who began a good work in them will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Phil 1:6) I pray for your abundance to overflow in their lives. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

What are your goals? What are your fears? Leave a comment; I would love to pray for you!
