Spiritual Vitamins

What are you doing to stay spiritually fit?

Most of us take a multivitamin daily to make sure our bodies are getting enough nutrition.  Heck, I take about 7 different supplements every day in hopes to remain alive and healthy.  The funny thing is as I’m writing this post; I woke up with a cold today!  So now what I plan to do is load up on plenty of Vitamin C to see if I can kick this thing.

The question I really want us to ponder is what type of spiritual vitamins are you taking daily?  Here are a few things I have readily available to me just incase I find myself feeling a little spiritually sick.

  • Prayer (personally & with others)
  • Worship music
  • Journaling
  • Bible study
  • Fellowship with others
  • Scripture memorization/meditation
  • Spending time in nature

All of these “spiritual vitamins” are excellent, however if I wait until I’m spiritually under the weather to take them, they end up not being quit as effective as if I’d been taking them every day.  It’s kind of like me running to the cabinet today to stock up on Vitamin C.  It might shorten the length of my sickness, however it is already too late because I have a cold to deal with no matter what.

As a Christian Life Coach, I love to encourage and challenge my readers with a few questions.  Take a moment today and answer the following questions.

1.   What daily spiritual vitamins are you taking?

2.   Are you taking them consistently?

3.   How can you keep yourself accountable to take them daily?

Please leave a comment below, I love hearing from you!

  1. Here is my favorite statement: All of these “spiritual vitamins” are excellent, however if I wait until I’m spiritually under the weather to take them, they end up not being quit as effective as if I’d been taking them every day. Such an important reminder of what happens if we do not take our vitamins to STAY healthy!~

  2. Linda ~ you are such an inspiration and you remind me how Awesome our God is! I love your blog post and the questions, you always make me want to dig deeper and go further in the word ~ so Thank you!!! Blessings

  3. Linda you are an awesome inspiration. Reading and prayer are my strongest multivitamins, listening to worship music and fellowship round out the balance!! Thank you for all you do!!

  4. Linda, I love your weekly post! They are very encouraging and thought provoking. You make sure to ask questions that makes us question out accountability, love it! At times, I find myself not taking spiritual vitamins daily and when I’m “sick” try to OD on vitamins! Lately, I’ve been doing an excellent job of giving God the first hour or two of my morning, and reading devotionals throughout the day.
Each morning I read the devotional that is emailed from Proverbs 31. I also read Jesus Calling by Sarah Young each morning. I take the scriptures that are included in those and reference them in my bible. I am also participating in Melissa Taylor’s and Renee Swope’s online bible study. And I’m reading Karen Ehman’s Let It Go. Whew!

    • I forgot to mention I’m subscribed to several of the Proverbs 31 ladies blog. So, I constantly have an inspiring word coming in my inbox, love it! It keeps me positive and focused!

  5. Great Reminder Linda! So many of us wait to stock up until we’re spiritually sick. Chapter 9 of SSL really hammered into me the importance of being consistenly connected to God. So greatful for OBS and all of you leaders which are helping me to do just that!

  6. I know what your saying is to be true that I should be fit and ready for anything that comes my way, but I find myself to pray or read the bible or check in w/accountablity partners is not always a everyday thing for me so Im I undiscplined? To me, I am, I need discpline in my life not only for the spritual but the physical. I have allowed Satan to take hold of it for so long in my life that I feel guilty for not reading my word or because I didnt pray today, but that is something that I need to start proclaiming victory over that I will have the desire for the discpline needed for my life.

    • Hi Heidi! I try to remember that our walk with God is not about performance but simply about our relationship with him. No matter what we do or don’t do he is always readily available to have conversation with us anytime of the day. Thank you for sharing today!

  7. I love it that you remind us that our spiritual vitamins won’t be quite as effective if we wait to take them when we are spiritually sick. So true. The Lord has been showing me over and over again during this study that I have to plug into Him daily to receive the power to face my day ahead. Thanks again for another reminder.

  8. Linda,
Your awareness of the need of spiritual vitamins is a really big deal and a gift! By taking the time to not only discover this but to explore what actions you can take to stay nourished ~ to remain in Him ~ is one of the many reasons why you are such an amazing women of God and a wonderful gift to us! Thank you 🙂

  9. Linda, loved the way you prescribed Spiritual Vitamins! God’s Word in a variety of ways is my Spiritual multivitamin…routinely upon waking and before bedtime…and any chance I get in between!

  10. I find myself taking multiple doses of prayer daily. I am always listrening to christan music. These I do daily, and I try to get into his word daily. I’m still working on that and journaling. Thanks for a great post.
