3 Ways to Connect with Jesus

What priority is your relationship with God? Do you meet with him daily, once a week or on special occasions? One thing we all know for certain is relationships only grow when we invest in them.

In my book Worthy of a Miracle I wrote, “God doesn’t set an alarm clock. He doesn’t text you if you don’t return his call. Jesus waits. He waits patiently. I like to say he is a gentleman because he does not force himself on you.

A friend of mine once said she imagines Jesus waiting on her at the kitchen table when she wakes up in the morning. Some days she’s guilty of rushing through her morning and not even giving him a hello or a thank you for stopping by. Other days on her way to bed she’s reminded that he has been waiting for her all day, patiently hoping to be noticed.

One day she thought, What if that were my husband or children sitting there? Of course, I would talk with them. I would stop and give them a hug or kiss and tell them how much I love them. I would make sure I took time to connect with them. How much more does Jesus deserve that from me?

After that revelation, she began to schedule an appointment at 5:00 A.M. every morning to meet with Jesus.

Developing a persona relationship with Jesus takes intention, consistency, and a hunger to spend time alone with him.

Do you have a predetermined plan for building intimacy with God? If not, it’s time to stop procrastinating and start now.”

Pause here for just a moment dear reader and ask yourself, Am I procrastinating meeting with God? If your answer is yes, I want to encourage you to spend some time exploring why. I believe often times when we have resistance in a particular area that breakthrough is just around the corner.

Below are three suggestions I recommend incorporating into your daily life to grow intimately in your relationship with Jesus:

  1.  Schedule a set time to meet with God privately, uninterrupted. If you have to start with just 5 minutes a day, start there!
  2. Read your bible. To really get to know God personally we must read the Word. Holy Spirit will speak directly to you and bring amazing revelation. If you don’t know where to begin reading the Bible, simply start with Matthew in the New Testament. Also, a great way to understand the Bible is through the ReadScripture App.
  3. Pray. Pray in the Holy Spirit on all occasions. If you do not have your prayer language be sure to take my free Speaking In Tongues class! When we pray, we not only build ourselves up in the spirit, but we are co-laboring with the Lord. Ephesians 6:12 tells us “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Prayer changes everything.

After reading this post, what stood out to you? Is God inviting you to invest in your relationship with Him? What will you do to place Him at your highest priority? How will you remain accountability?

What clients are saying about working with Linda Kuhar(click here to read more)~

“Upon first speaking with Linda on our introductory call, I found her to be completely genuine, attentive, and focused on what I was concerned with and how she could best assist me in reaching my goals. Linda made me feel completely comfortable speaking about anything, which is something needed when trying to get to some of those root problems.  Throughout my sessions with Linda, she would always check in on me, encouraging me with daily devotions, and also give me some assignments which she held me accountable.  I was very thankful for her accountability, as discipline is not something I am the best at.  I looked forward to my weekly sessions with Linda, as I could tell my work with her was helping me become stronger each week.  Not only is Linda positive and encouraging, but she is honest, and encourages you to be honest with yourself and do some self-examination.  I am truly thankful to Linda for taking the time to help me through some things, and I thank God for bringing her into my life, just when I needed it.” Sara W., VA

“Linda is amazing! She’s genuine, the real deal! In each call you can hear it in her voice how much she genuinely cares & has a deep desire to help. She’s positive & uplifting, encouraging & supportive. Linda will even be the first to tell you that it all comes from God & not her, that she is God’s vessel being used by him to bring his words to you.” Tricia D., IN

“I gained clarity about my talents and priorities, and was able to regain a sense of serenity, which is priceless!  I am so grateful that Linda was able to walk with me through a challenging time with kindness, empathy and humor.” Cassie C., NJ

A Simple Way To Study The Bible

Currently I’m taking a class on How to Study the Bible in my KINEO Ministry Training Class. One easy method I’ve used for years is the devotional method. This method is the first one taught in Rick Warren’s Bible Study Methods, Twelve Ways You Can Unlock God’s Word book. Reading and studying the Bible can be intimidating to many believers. As a Christian life coach, I pray that I can help break down those walls of intimidation and bring an excitement and hunger for everyone to get into God’s word daily.

Okay, so the devotional method is super easy! Be sure to check out Rick Warren’s book to go deeper into this method but for today I want to give you an example of what I like to do.

First, I grab my journal, write the date and pray for the Holy Spirit to guide me and speak to me through God’s word.

Next, I find scripture that speaks to me.

Where do I find scripture to read you might ask? You may be reading a devotional book with suggested bible reading, you may have a bible reading plan you’re following, or you may have scripture your pastor taught on this week and you’re looking it up. These are just a few places I get scripture from.

Once I find the verse(s) that I’m drawn to, I write it in my journal. Today I found these verses as I was reading through my bible reading plan for my KINEO class. As I looked up the cross-reference scriptures (noted at the bottom of the page in my Bible) I came across this passage that jumped off the page to me. Ex. “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10

Next I meditate on the verse(s). I read it over and over. Rick Warren says, “Meditation is essentially thought digestion.” As I read it over and over, I process what the scripture means to me through journaling. I might paraphrase the passage, personalize it or write down what it’s teaching me. Ex. Linda, you are chosen, you are a royal priesthood, you are holy, you belong to God. I praise you God because you called me out of darkness into the light, into your truth. Your truth is that I am chosen. I am royalty. I am holy. I belong to you. Once I was no one, but now I am someone! I am your daughter. I have now received your mercy! Thank you, Jesus for your blood shed on the cross. Thank you, God, for having mercy on me, on my sin. Your mercy removes my misery. I do not have to live feeling miserable because your mercy has covered me. Your mercy frees me.

Then I write out how I will apply this to my life. The revelation of the scripture must be lived out. No application of the Word is like we never read it. Ex. Recently I felt overlooked by three different people in my life that are very important to me. When feelings hit me that I’m not important or I don’t matter to others, I will remember this truth. I am chosen. Also, there are times lately when I’ve felt really bad for not remaining disciplined and following through in areas I know I need to change. Because of this scripture I refuse to agree with condemning thoughts of not being “perfect”, instead I will thank God for His mercy! I no longer have to agree with miserable condemning thoughts, but instead I praise Jesus for mercy!

Finally, I will memorize the verse or a key phrase. In order to live out the Word we need to know the Word. I’ve not spent much time on memorizing scripture word for word (even though that is a goal of mine), however I do have key words and phrases that bubble up in my spirit that I often recall. Ex. I am chosen, I am royalty, I belong. You called me out of darkness and I have received your mercy!

Now if you are reading this, I challenge you to grab your calendar and schedule a 20-minute block of time to practice what you just read or shutting down your electronic device now and do it immediately. Studying the bible will not happen unless you plan too. In order to have an intimate relationship with Christ we must be in His Word. We must know His Word. God tells us in in Hosea 4:6 “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge”. The truth is the more we know God’s Word, the more we know about ourselves, who we truly are, and that brings an undeniable confidence that cannot be shaken. As Pastor Todd Smith from the North Georgia Revival told me the day I met him, “GET INTO THE WORD”. It will change your life.

Seeing Jesus

How do you see Jesus? When you close your eyes, how do you visualize our teacher, our Rabbi, our healer, our friend, our King, our deliverer, our Savior?

For as long as I can remember when I think about being in the presence of Jesus, I see us walking together outside and taking time to sit down for an intimate conversation. He’s in a soft white robe. He has a radiance about him. Often times he takes me in his arms and hugs me with an indescribable love. His smile speaks a thousand words. It’s contagious. His eyes sparkle with joy, compassion, gentleness, and excitement. It’s like I’m looking into a deep sea of love.

When I’m with Jesus I feel loved. He is proud of me. He is overjoyed with every detail about me. I am perfect when I’m with him. I don’t need to change anything about me. When I’m settled in this place with Jesus, I am the most confident. I don’t question my value, my worth, my abilities, my purpose, or my life.

In the presence of Jesus, I rest.

It’s vital in growing our relationship with Christ that we take time to intentionally connect with Him visually, that we see Him with the eyes of our heart. Ephesians 1:18 tells us, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people”. This gives me unshakable confidence in myself and my identity when I see Him through the eyes of my heart.

I want to invite you today to set a timer for five minutes, close your eyes and spend time with Jesus. Be sure to have a journal nearby so you can write down anything you see or hear Him speaking to you. This is a great way to begin dialoging with God. And even if this is something that you’ve never done before or you think it’s not for you, I challenge you to go for it! You just might be surprised how Jesus shows up. He’s ready to meet with you friend. Enjoy building a deeper intimate relationship with Christ!

Interview with Pastor Karen Smith

On January 12 this year I was sitting in this audience at a Women’s Conference listening to Pastor Karen Smith preach on strongholds of the mind. I had no idea that moments later my life would be completely radically transformed and I WOULD NEVER BE THE SAME! That I would be supernaturally touched by God’s tangible Presence and that would propel my life forward to operate in miracles, signs and wonders as my heart had always desired. I had no idea that I would get to development a relationship with this incredible woman of God. That we would instantly have a sisterhood to run this race together. I love this woman. SHE IS A POWERHOUSE!

In this interview learn about the significance of water baptism. You will learn about traditional baptism and the difference of the MIRACLES happening in the baptismal at the North Georgia Revival. To learn more about the North Georgia Revival visit https://www.cfchurch.tv/revival.

Experience Praying In Tongues

Prayer is the most powerful weapon we have to overcome any struggle in our life. I believe every follower of Christ has the ability to pray in their own spiritual language. I pray my message today encourages you to simply allow the Holy Spirit to speak through you today. It is powerful and life changing.

Excellent sermon below explaining Praying In Tongues by Pastor Robert Morris.

How To Pray

Do you love prayer or is prayer really just not your thing?

If you’re really not sure what prayer is all about, it is just a simple conversation with the Lord. You can talk with the Lord just like you are talking to a friend by talking out loud. Often times I pray alone. I sit in my “come to Jesus” chair and talk out loud with the Lord. Prayer is also when you are quiet and still, you are able to hear from the Lord. It is that gut feeling, that deep knowing and He will bring thoughts to your mind and what He is trying to speak into your life. There are also prayers that we can read from the bible or prayers that others have wrote in books. I have prayers that I wrote in my book Worthy of a Miracle. And one of my favorite ways to pray is through a spiritual language or speaking in tongues. I will share more on this in the weeks ahead.

I would love to hear how I can pray for you today. Please leave me a comment below or email me at linda@lindakuhar.com.

What clients are saying about working with Linda Kuhar …

“The fog is gone. I’d say almost completely. And I have a clear idea of want id like to do. I am dying to talk to you. Hear your thoughts and work out what those next steps look like. I have that peace and confidence again. And I think it’s the best feeling I’ve felt in 2 years. Thank you for pouring into me. Believing in me and praying for me. Just having you by my side makes me feel so supported and it helped me gain tremendous perspective even in our first call! I’m gonna be a NEW woman by the time we have the 3rd session.”            Rebecca P., NY

“Working with Linda was truly a joy. Linda’s upbeat personality was a breath of fresh air for me during one of my most challenging times. She encouraged me to dig deep to examine certain areas of my life and to intentionally look at what I needed to initiate change. During this time I began to seek God’s purpose for my life in a way like never before and it continues to this day. I have grown so much in the things of God since these sessions.  What I know is that God brought us together. I needed a jump-start in my walk and I believe that the Lord used Linda to accomplish it. I would say to anyone who is looking for a genuine, kind, compassionate, and non-judgmental voice during a confusing time, Linda Kuhar is your person. I highly recommend her.” Sheilah W., GA
